Subclasses:

AutomotiveCarSensors, ProjectedCarSensors

Gradle dependencies

compile group: 'androidx.car.app', name: 'app', version: '1.7.0-beta01'

  • groupId: androidx.car.app
  • artifactId: app
  • version: 1.7.0-beta01

Artifact androidx.car.app:app:1.7.0-beta01 it located at Google repository (https://maven.google.com/)

Overview

Manages access to androidx.car.app.hardware specific sensors such as compass, accelerometer, gyroscope and location.

For Android Automotive OS, the sensor APIs in this class are currently not implemented, and they will return CarValue.STATUS_UNIMPLEMENTED by default. To get these values for Android Automotive OS, use SensorManager and LocationManager instead.

Summary

Fields
public static final intUPDATE_RATE_FASTEST

Car hardware property, sensor, or action should be fetched at its fastest possible rate.

public static final intUPDATE_RATE_NORMAL

Car hardware info, sensor, or action should be fetched at its default rate.

public static final intUPDATE_RATE_UI

Car hardware property, sensor, or action should be fetched at a rate consistent with drawing UI to a screen.

Methods
public voidaddAccelerometerListener(int rate, java.util.concurrent.Executor executor, OnCarDataAvailableListener<Accelerometer> listener)

Setup an ongoing listener to receive Accelerometer data from the car hardware.

public voidaddCarHardwareLocationListener(int rate, java.util.concurrent.Executor executor, OnCarDataAvailableListener<CarHardwareLocation> listener)

Setup an ongoing listener to receive CarHardwareLocation data from the car hardware.

Fields

public static final int UPDATE_RATE_NORMAL

Car hardware info, sensor, or action should be fetched at its default rate.

public static final int UPDATE_RATE_UI

Car hardware property, sensor, or action should be fetched at a rate consistent with drawing UI to a screen.

public static final int UPDATE_RATE_FASTEST

Car hardware property, sensor, or action should be fetched at its fastest possible rate.

Methods

public void addAccelerometerListener(int rate, java.util.concurrent.Executor executor, OnCarDataAvailableListener<Accelerometer> listener)

Setup an ongoing listener to receive Accelerometer data from the car hardware.

If the listener was added previously then previous rate is updated with the new rate. Use CarSensors.UPDATE_RATE_NORMAL as a good default rate in most cases.

Parameters:

rate: the maximum rate at which the data will be returned through the provided listener
executor: the executor which will be used for invoking the listener
listener: the listener that will be invoked when data is available

public void removeAccelerometerListener(OnCarDataAvailableListener<Accelerometer> listener)

Remove an ongoing listener for Accelerometer information.

If the listener is not currently added, then nothing will be removed.

Parameters:

listener: the listener to remove

public void addGyroscopeListener(int rate, java.util.concurrent.Executor executor, OnCarDataAvailableListener<Gyroscope> listener)

Setup an ongoing listener to receive Gyroscope data from the car hardware.

If the listener was added previously then previous rate is updated with the new rate. Use CarSensors.UPDATE_RATE_NORMAL as a good default rate in most cases.

Parameters:

rate: the maximum rate at which the data will be returned through the provided listener
executor: the executor which will be used for invoking the listener
listener: the listener that will be invoked when data is available

public void removeGyroscopeListener(OnCarDataAvailableListener<Gyroscope> listener)

Remove an ongoing listener for Gyroscope information.

If the listener is not currently added, then nothing will be removed.

Parameters:

listener: the listener to remove

public void addCompassListener(int rate, java.util.concurrent.Executor executor, OnCarDataAvailableListener<Compass> listener)

Setup an ongoing listener to receive Compass data from the car hardware.

If the listener was added previously then previous rate is updated with the new rate. Use CarSensors.UPDATE_RATE_NORMAL as a good default rate in most cases.

Parameters:

rate: the maximum rate at which the data will be returned through the provided listener
executor: the executor which will be used for invoking the listener
listener: the listener that will be invoked when data is available

public void removeCompassListener(OnCarDataAvailableListener<Compass> listener)

Remove an ongoing listener for Compass information.

If the listener is not currently added, then nothing will be removed.

Parameters:

listener: the listener to remove

public void addCarHardwareLocationListener(int rate, java.util.concurrent.Executor executor, OnCarDataAvailableListener<CarHardwareLocation> listener)

Setup an ongoing listener to receive CarHardwareLocation data from the car hardware.

If the listener was added previously then previous rate is updated with the new rate. Use CarSensors.UPDATE_RATE_NORMAL as a good default rate in most cases.

Parameters:

rate: the maximum rate at which the data will be returned through the provided listener
executor: the executor which will be used for invoking the listener
listener: the listener that will be invoked when data is available

public void removeCarHardwareLocationListener(OnCarDataAvailableListener<CarHardwareLocation> listener)

Remove an ongoing listener for CarHardwareLocation information.

If the listener is not currently added, then nothing will be removed.

Parameters:

listener: the listener to remove
