Overview

TestEventClient abstracts the communication with the remote Android Test Orchestrator v1 service (OrchestratorService) or the newer Test Event Services ( and ).

It connects to the appropriate remote service as necessary. The Orchestrator may request the AndroidJUnitRunner to send back either test case information or test run event notifications by passing the name of the remote service to connect to as an instrumentation argument:

Orchestrator v1 provides a single service for both test discovery and test notifications (androidx.test.orchestrator.OrchestratorService). This service is used when the -e orchestratorService and/or -e listTestsForOrchestrator are non-empty. Both args are typically set to "true".

Alternatively, if the -e testDiscoveryService arg is provided then messages are sent to the specified service, or if the -e testRunEventService arg is provided then messages are sent to the specified service.

Summary

Fields
public static final TestEventClientNO_OP_CLIENT

If no test discovery or test run events required, then return a client that does nothing.

Methods
public static TestEventClientconnect(Context context, TestEventClientConnectListener listener, TestEventClientArgs args)

Connects to the remote Test Event Service (OrchestratorService, or ) as necessary.

public RunListenergetRunListener()

Returns the main for reporting test results

public booleanisOrchestrationServiceEnabled()

Returns true if an orchestration service (either discovery or test run events service) was requested.

public booleanreportProcessCrash(java.lang.Throwable t)

Reports the process crash event with a given exception.

public booleanreportProcessCrash(java.lang.Throwable t, long timeoutMillis)

Reports the process crash event with a given exception.

public voidsetConnectedToOrchestrator(boolean b)

public static voidsetOrchestratorConnection(TestEventServiceConnection conn)

Sets the default connection to use to connect to the orchestrator.

Fields

public static final TestEventClient NO_OP_CLIENT

If no test discovery or test run events required, then return a client that does nothing.

Methods

public static TestEventClient connect(Context context, TestEventClientConnectListener listener, TestEventClientArgs args)

Connects to the remote Test Event Service (OrchestratorService, or ) as necessary.

The Instrumentation will be notified when the connection has finished via its TestEventClientConnectListener interface.

Returns:

a new TestEventClient instance

public boolean isOrchestrationServiceEnabled()

Returns true if an orchestration service (either discovery or test run events service) was requested.

public RunListener getRunListener()

Returns the main for reporting test results

Returns:

an instance or null if testEventClient is not enabled

public boolean reportProcessCrash(java.lang.Throwable t)

Reports the process crash event with a given exception.

Returns:

true if process crash was reported to a test event service, false otherwise

public boolean reportProcessCrash(java.lang.Throwable t, long timeoutMillis)

Reports the process crash event with a given exception.

Returns:

true if process crash was reported to a test event service, false otherwise

public static void setOrchestratorConnection(TestEventServiceConnection conn)

Sets the default connection to use to connect to the orchestrator.

Only useful in internal platform testing. Shouldn't be called when running Instrumentation tests.

Parameters:

conn: the default connection instance to use.

public void setConnectedToOrchestrator(boolean b)
